I don't want to start a board war but I think this needs to be addressed. Every person has their own attitudes and interests and this leads them to what jobs they do and what they can tolerate. By IS's reasoning, nobody can have a bad week unless they are military, emergency services personnel or victims. I don't think that is necessarily true. After all, the military and emergency services personnel chose that profession. Perhaps they can have a greater tolerance for seeing that sort of thing or they would not be able to function in their jobs. It may even be possible that some "gung ho" soldiers may even enjoy seeing dead enemies. It would not surprise me if some Mafia type might find seeing the disemboweled body of a "rat" part of a good week but be totally enraged at not being able to connect to the internet.

There can also be influences based on personal philosophy. A non-materialist might be more upset by the disrespect of a boss than by a fire that caused the loss of "mere" material things.

I didn't take that from his post at all. In his job that's a bad week, in some other people's line of work it's when the toner cartridge for the printer runs out and the spare turns out to be defective. A friend of mine runs a printing business that would be a serious hit to his weekly income.

We are all different and have varying skills and interests. My daughter just finished her first day of being a practicing doc (under supervision but not directly) and she was just glad she didn't kill anyone that day.

A bad day where I work is when there is a major power outage over three counties for an hour and a half and there are claims it cost some major companies $25 million and every agency known to man is breathing down your neck over it. Coworkers had to have a chat with our legal counsel and all that shit. Lots of sleep was lost by lots of people for two weeks and we did nothing wrong.

If you work in a store and there are hardly any customers for a week or so you get bored. If you own a store and you don't see very many customers in a week not only are you going to be bored but you won't be able to pay your bills.

A bad week can be vastly different depending on the person. What I didn't see was any judgement over whose job was more important or who as a person was more important. I did see insecurity rear it's less then beautiful little head and some leaping to conclusions not backed by the evidence but that will happen.
